The tenon should be secured firmly by fastening it through the use of wood glue or nails.

If cost is a factor, some manufacturers offer cheap, unfinished workbenches that can still look great and be used as intended.
Most woodworking workbenches are manufactured with a basic design built in, so it is very easy to find one that will fit with the current decor of the shop. Popular workbenches, such as: A-frames, carcass, drawer, bow, corner, drop-in and European antique style workbenches are quite common and easy to find. They are made of a solid wood and will provide a sturdy base for storing tools and other items easily. An industrial workbench with heavy tools on it will require additional items to support it, like: a shelf, wall or other structure to support the weight of the tools, a thick solid wood workbench top, and moisture control features to keep your tools and other materials from drying out and rotting.
